All Nippon Airways (ANA) and The Pokémon Company have revealed two brand-new Pokémon-themed aircraft designs as part of a special collaboration celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

The newly announced “Pokémon Jet Red” and “Pokémon Jet Green” aircraft will introduce immersive Pokémon experiences across both domestic and international flights to continue a long-running partnership between ANA and the globally popular franchise.

The first aircraft to enter service will be the “Pokémon Jet Red,” a Boeing 787-8. Scheduled to begin flying domestic routes across Japan at the end of July 2026, the aircraft features Pikachu alongside fire-type starter Pokémon inspired by the original Pokémon adventures.

ANA also unveiled the “Pokémon Jet Green,” a Boeing 787-9, which will operate on international routes. That aircraft’s design showcases Pikachu alongside grass-type starter Pokémon from across the video game series. ANA has not yet announced the aircraft’s official launch date.

ANA Pokemon Amenities

Similar to what EVA offers with Hello Kitty, the collaboration extends beyond the exterior aircraft designs. ANA says passengers onboard the themed flights will experience Pokémon-inspired cabins complete with exclusive amenities and commemorative items. Travelers will receive special boarding stickers featuring anniversary-themed designs, while select cabins will include Pokémon-branded headrest covers showcasing characters displayed on the aircraft exterior.

Additional onboard items include limited-edition commemorative cups featuring Pokémon artwork and anniversary logos, as well as custom cocktail napkins available on international flights in Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class. ANA says details about future events, schedules, and the third aircraft in the series: the “Pokémon Jet Blue” will be announced later.

The collaboration also celebrates the historical connection between ANA and Pokémon, which dates back to the original launch of Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Green Version in Japan.

Over the years, Pokémon-themed aircraft have become some of aviation’s most recognizable special liveries, attracting both aviation enthusiasts and Pokémon fans worldwide. I wrote about ANA’s Pikachu aircraft back in 2023 and it’s cool to see some new designs.

Anthony’s Take: I love special liveries and had a blast when I flew a Hello Kitty flight with EVA. With the new aircraft, ANA says it hopes to create a more immersive travel experience that combines nostalgia, entertainment, and the joy of flying for passengers across its network. I’m going to need to check this out.
