We had the chance to check out one of my now favorite Priority Pass lounges when departing Malta International Airport (MLA) yesterday. The La Valette Club lounge serves as the space for Business Class passengers flying on British Airways, Delta, ITA Airways, and a host of other carriers (in addition to anyone with a Priority Pass membership). This is the only departures lounge in the airport and the terminal was quite packed with people.

You need to take the elevator up one floor to access the lounge.

Access
Upon entering, you will find a desk to have your credentials checked. Access is granted to passengers with Priority Pass memberships (these can be purchased or received from holding a ton of different credit cards), those who purchase one-time passes (€45 each), and passengers flying Business Class on AEGEAN, airBaltic, Air Serbia, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, ITA Airways, KM Malta, LOT Polish, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, SAS, SWISS, and Turkish Airlines.
Anthony’s Take: This lounge has a great selection of food and beverages, plenty of space, an excellent outdoor terrace for plane spotting, and a friendly and attentive staff. It’s one of the nicest Priority Pass lounges I have been to and I wish more would operate at this level.

Bar
There isn’t a full-service bar in the lounge, but beer, wine, liquor, soda, juice, and coffee are all self serve. There were multiple coffee machines around the lounge as well as a soda machine and many cases holding assorted beverages.

Food
Lunch was being served during our visit. This lounge offered a nice assortment of hot dishes (Maltese specialties and others), soup, salad ingredients, sandwiches, bread, vegetables, cold cuts, snacks, fresh fruit, and desserts.

Seating & Decor
The lounge has a good mix of tables, couches, armchairs, and other configurations around the space. It also has a huge outdoor terrace. Decor was minimal, but felt cozy.

I liked the art near the entrance.

Seating near the entrance

There were lots of couches.

The terrace is spacious, mostly in the shade, and offers great views of the planes below.

Amenities
This lounge offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, a departures board (not pictured due to the glare), a business center, and the food and beverages mentioned above.

There were several computers available for guest use.
Overall Impression:
This is a great lounge. Malta has a tiny airport and this is the true gem within. I have no complaints about this space and was happy to have access while we waited for our flight.

Very nice. I’ll definitely pop in when I’m there later this year.
