United Airlines and Lufthansa are strengthening their partnership with new reciprocal benefits for their highest-tier frequent flyers. Beginning July 22nd, United Global Services members and Lufthansa HON Circle members will receive enhanced recognition and additional perks when flying on participating transatlantic partner airlines.
The new benefits are exclusive to each airline’s most elite travelers. United Global Services is the carrier’s invitation-only status reserved for its highest-value customers (I held this for years when I used to spend $60K+ on United airfare) while Lufthansa HON Circle is earned by the airline’s most frequent premium cabin flyers.

Under the new program, United Global Services members traveling on Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, and Lufthansa City Airlines will receive additional benefits throughout their journey. Likewise, Lufthansa HON Circle members flying on United will enjoy similar enhanced treatment. Although the airlines have not released a complete list of benefits, they say eligible travelers can expect perks such as:
- Preferred seat selection
- Enhanced recognition throughout the airport experience
- Additional support during delays, cancellations, and other travel disruptions
The new benefits are designed to create a more seamless and consistent experience for each airline’s most loyal customers when traveling across the Atlantic. The exact benefits will vary by airline rather than being standardized across all participating carriers.
United also indicated that additional airlines within its Atlantic joint venture could eventually join the program, although no timeline or participating carriers have been announced.
Anthony’s Take: United Global Services and Lufthansa HON Circle members will see the new reciprocal benefits soon and these should make travel between the two airline groups feel more consistent with added recognition and enhanced support when it matters most.

I sincerely hope this means I can use the FRA 1st Class Terminal like HON does!
And maybe this is the first step to a Star Alliance Platinum status.
