Frontier Airlines is joining the growing list of carriers adopting Starlink inflight internet and announced plans to equip its fleet with SpaceX’s high-speed satellite Wi-Fi beginning in early 2027.

Powered by SpaceX’ low-Earth orbit satellite network, Starlink delivers high-speed, low-latency internet capable of supporting HD video streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, and other bandwidth-intensive activities while in flight.

The new system is expected to improve more than just the passenger experience. Frontier says Starlink will provide gate-to-gate connectivity for pilots, flight attendants, maintenance personnel, and ground operations teams, helping streamline communication, improve operational performance, and enhance customer service.

The announcement is part of a much larger rollout by Indigo Partners (Frontier’s investment group). Sister airlines Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSMART, and Cebu Pacific also plan to install Starlink across their fleets. This brings the total commitment to more than 1,000 aircraft worldwide and aligns Frontier with Alaska, American, Hawaiian, Southwest, and United in installing the high-speed provider.

The deployment represents one of the largest global investments in next-generation inflight connectivity and reflects the industry’s growing shift toward faster, more reliable onboard internet.

Jimmy Dempsey, Chief Executive Officer at Frontier Airlines, said:

We’re continuing to invest in the products and services that matter most to our customers. Starlink transforms the onboard experience, giving customers the flexibility to work, stream, browse, and stay connected throughout their journey. Alongside the introduction of First Class seating and enhancements to our loyalty program, it’s another example of how we’re evolving the travel experience while staying true to our commitment to offering the lowest fares.”

Anthony’s Take: Frontier joins a rapidly expanding list of airlines embracing Starlink technology. As carriers increasingly view high-speed Wi-Fi as an essential part of the modern travel experience rather than a premium add-on, even low-cost airlines need to adapt. Frontier has not stated whether this will be free or an additional charge on board.
