Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are rolling out complimentary Starlink inflight Wi-Fi and today announced that approximately 150 aircraft across their combined fleet are now equipped with the high-speed satellite internet service. The deployment includes 100% of the airlines’ regional fleet and the first 50 mainline aircraft. This puts the carriers ahead of schedule as they work toward offering free, ultra-fast connectivity across their entire network.
Hawaiian Airlines has also achieved another milestone with every aircraft flying to and from Hawaii now equipped with Starlink. This makes it the first major US airline to offer the service across its entire Hawaii network. Beginning this month, Alaska and Hawaiian are also introducing a new onboard connectivity portal that allows passengers to access free Wi-Fi by joining Atmos™ Rewards, the airlines’ combined loyalty program. Existing members will connect automatically through a simplified login process while new travelers can enroll in just a few steps before or during their flight.
The complimentary Wi-Fi service is made possible through a partnership with T-Mobile and powered by Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network. It delivers speeds capable of streaming, video conferencing, gaming, and other high-bandwidth activities while in the air. Alaska also recognized T-Mobile for its role in helping make free inflight Wi-Fi available and allowing guests to stay connected throughout their journey without additional fees.
