Alaska Airlines is planning to expand its premium airport experience. This week, it announced a new flagship lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) that will become one of the largest airline lounges in the United States.

Scheduled to open in late 2027, the new Alaska Lounge will span more than 41,000 square feet across two levels inside Seattle’s newly refreshed Concourse C. The facility will feature approximately 700 seats and serve as a centerpiece of Alaska’s growing international ambitions and broader investment in premium travel experiences.

The airline says the lounge will offer an elevated design unlike anything currently available within the Alaska Lounge network, including shower suites, multiple premium cocktail bars, à la carte dining, and chef-curated seasonal menus.

The lower level of the lounge will be accessible to Alaska Lounge members, day-pass travelers, and eligible First Class guests. Meanwhile, the upper floor will be dedicated to international long-haul passengers including travelers flying in premium Suites and lie-flat seating (as well as qualifying Atmos Titanium members traveling internationally). Both levels will showcase Pacific Northwest-inspired offerings, including locally sourced cuisine, regional craft beers, handcrafted espresso drinks, and specialty cocktails.

Positioned with views overlooking the Olympic Mountains and Seattle’s airfield operations, the new lounge is designed to reinforce Seattle’s role as Alaska Airlines’ primary international gateway as the carrier continues expanding long-haul service.

The flagship Seattle project forms part of a wider multimillion-dollar investment in Alaska’s lounge portfolio. The airline is also preparing to open a new lounge at Portland International Airport (PDX) later this summer while additional lounges are planned for San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in early 2028.

Anthony’s Take: For Alaska Airlines, the new Seattle flagship lounge represents not only a significant upgrade to its customer experience but also a signal of the carrier’s evolving position in the global aviation market. It’s exciting to see Alaska making so many moves.
