A woman is attracting widespread attention online after a video appeared to show her being arrested at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) following an alleged attempt to leave a restaurant at the Grand Hyatt DFW (review here) without paying for her meal.
The viral clip shows the incident unfolding at the hotel where staff claimed the woman ordered food before attempting to bill the meal to a guest room that was not occupied. The restaurant check reportedly totaled about $66. Staff said the woman wrote down a room number and stated that her father was staying there to allow the charge to be added to his hotel bill. After she left the restaurant, employees discovered the room was vacant and contacted airport police.
Officers later located a woman matching the description elsewhere in the airport and questioned her about the unpaid restaurant bill. During the exchange, she reportedly maintained that her father would cover the cost, despite officers informing her that the room number she provided was not assigned to any guest.
As the conversation continued, the woman’s explanation allegedly changed. She then claimed a bartender named David had agreed to pay the bill on her behalf. Officers checked with the employee, who reportedly denied making any such arrangement. Police warned the woman that failing to pay for the meal could result in a theft of service charge if the matter wasn’t resolved. The woman appeared surprised that an arrest could stem from what she described as “a hamburger.”
The video concludes with officers placing the woman in handcuffs. While being escorted away, she questioned why she was being arrested and later made several unusual statements, including telling officers, “I am a god.” The incident quickly spread across social media and generated thousands of comments. Some users criticized the reported price of the meal, while others expressed concern that the woman’s behavior suggested she may have been experiencing a mental health crisis.
