Wyndham Rewards is commemorating the 100th anniversary of historic Route 66 with a limited-edition candy collection that captures the flavors of some of the legendary highway’s most famous destinations.

Called Flavors of the Open Road, the collection features six candies inspired by regional favorites found along the iconic route, including Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, Tulsa pecan pie, Amarillo smoked brisket, Albuquerque roasted green chile, Flagstaff prickly pear soft serve, and Kingman’s classic root beer float. Some of the flavors sound odd, but intriguing.
Each box also includes 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points, which is enough for two or more free nights at participating Wyndham properties along Route 66, including Days Inn, Super 8, Ramada, La Quinta, and other brands.
Only 100 boxes will be available when they go on sale August 20th at 10:00 AM EST through Wyndham Rewards’ website. Each collection is priced at $19.26, a tribute to the year Route 66 was established, with shipping included. I really want one of these even though I know they will be hard to get.
The promotion highlights Wyndham’s extensive presence along the historic highway. With more than 400 hotels located near Route 66 and a portfolio of more than 20 hotel brands, the company is encouraging travelers to celebrate the Mother Road’s centennial by pairing nostalgic flavors with an unforgettable road trip. More information can be found here.
Anthony’s Take: This is right up my alley and I am going to be trying for one. By combining collectible sweets with hotel rewards, Wyndham is giving travelers a unique way to experience one of America’s most celebrated highways while honoring a century of roadside history, local cuisine, and classic road-trip culture.
