Germany’s leisure airline, Condor, is continuing its expansion across North America with the addition of a new nonstop route linking Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) beginning May 14, 2027.

The seasonal service will operate daily through September 12, 2027 to give travelers another nonstop option between Germany and one of the United States’ largest cities. With the addition of Chicago, Condor will serve 12 destinations in the United States and Canada from its Frankfurt Airport (FRA) hub. Routes include:

  • Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Calgary International Airport (YYC)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
  • Portland International Airport (PDX)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
  • Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
  • Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

Chicago’s status as a major business, financial, and transportation center makes it a strategic addition to the airline’s network. The city is also home to one of the largest German-American populations in the United States, which creates demand for both leisure and business travel. As one of North America’s busiest aviation hubs, Chicago also offers convenient onward connections to destinations throughout the Midwest and across the country.

For travelers departing the United States, the new route provides direct access to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) (this route is also flown by Lufthansa and United) and onward connections to destinations across Europe through Condor’s growing network and partner airlines. Passengers traveling from Germany will likewise benefit from a nonstop link to the Chicago metropolitan area for tourism, business, and visiting friends and family.

The route will be operated by Condor’s Airbus A330-900neo. The aircraft features 30 fully lie-flat Business Class seats with direct aisle access, an upgraded Premium Economy cabin (64 seats) with additional legroom, onboard Wi-Fi, and an enhanced inflight entertainment system. There are also 216 Economy Class seats onboard. The A330neo also delivers improved fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions compared with earlier-generation widebody aircraft.

The Chicago announcement comes as Condor prepares for another significant milestone. Beginning with the 2027 summer schedule, the airline will relocate its operations at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to the airport’s new Terminal 3, where passengers can expect modern facilities, shorter walking distances, and more efficient connections between long-haul and European flights.

Peter Gerber, CEO of Condor, said:

Chicago is an ideal addition to our North American network and a market with significant potential for both leisure and business travel. With this new service, we are providing our guests with convenient access to one of the most important metropolitan regions in the United States, while at the same time offering travelers from Chicago seamless connections to Europe via our hub in Frankfurt.”

Anthony’s Take: The new Chicago service further strengthens Condor’s North American presence while expanding travel options between the United States and Europe during the peak summer travel season. Let’s see what it does to pricing if anything next summer.
