United Airlines made a change to the way that miles and elite qualifying activities post in MileagePlus® accounts back in 2019. It’s been great to see flight activity post to my account within minutes of the aircraft landing. Something appears broken this week, though. I had four United flights since Tuesday and not one of these segments has shown up yet. Has the hamster that powered the UA machine fallen off the wheel or is United making a change to the way miles post?
FlyerTalk is my go to whenever there is anything off with a loyalty program, airline, or hotel. The collective mind of frequent travelers will often find an issue before the company realizes that there is one. I was happy to see that I was not alone in seeing missing flight activity, but it seems like no one is sure what is happening and this now becomes something to babysit unless United can get it fixed quickly.
Posts started popping up on FlyerTalk yesterday morning. It seems like activity is taking days to post as opposed to the mere minutes that loyal flyers have gotten used to seeing.
The issue seems pretty widespread and while I’m sure that UA is not trying to upset its customers, this issue is annoying. I don’t want to have to start tracking my flights separately or writing in for credit.
Anthony’s Take: United has not made any official announcements around any tech issues causing miles and flight activity to be delayed in posting. I hope that this is something that they fix quickly and not a change made to their tech that will cause ongoing headaches.
