The former headquarters of Spirit Airlines has found a buyer as the defunct carrier continues to liquidate its remaining assets following its shutdown earlier this year.
The Miami Herald reports that at a recent bankruptcy auction, DPC HoldCo LLC (an affiliate of Boston-based investment firm Hill City Capital submitted the highest offer and agreed to purchase the Dania Beach campus for $93.25 million. The sale remains subject to approval by the US Bankruptcy Court with a hearing scheduled for August 19th.
The property includes four buildings at Dania Pointe, highlighted by a six-story office building spanning approximately 180,000 square feet. The campus also features a dedicated flight simulator facility that was previously used to train Spirit pilots.
Spirit ceased operations on May 2nd and left approximately 17,000 employees without jobs after efforts to keep the airline operating were unsuccessful. The closure also dealt a significant economic blow to South Florida, where the carrier had maintained its corporate headquarters and was one of the largest airlines serving Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
Anthony’s Take: The headquarters sale is part of Spirit’s ongoing effort to dispose of its remaining assets, which include aircraft, airport facilities, equipment, and real estate, as bankruptcy proceedings continue.
