I got to taste one of American Airlines’ newer First Class dishes while flying today from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The Grilled Chicken Breast with Mozzarella and Pesto was a totally fine lunch and something that was far more edible than most of what United has served me lately.
The meal started with warm nuts and a choice of beverage. I had a ginger ale. I like that American offers a sizable portion and that they are mostly cashews.
The meal is served with broccoli and cheese tortellini in a creamy tomato sauce (almost a vodka sauce). The chicken tasted overly processed and rubbery, but the pasta and broccoli were good. The tray also came with an antipasto salad of sorts (I ate the dried apricots).
For dessert, there was a chocolate chip cheesecake. Save the calories. I had a bite and this came straight from a 7-Eleven or vending machine.
Anthony’s Take: I would eat this meal again, but would not go out of my way for it either.
