Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) has had a rough few years. The airport has seen the loss of many routes, passengers (the largest drop in the United States), and airlines while it battled over its name. Now, it finally has a win. As I first wrote about back in June, Frontier Airlines is back at Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) with nonstop flights to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).
The inaugural flight on August 20th marked the airline’s return to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) after ending all service there in 2023. The new route will operate 11x per week to give travelers multiple daily options on many days between the Bay Area and Sin City.

Tyri Squyres, Vice President of Public and Consumer Affairs at Frontier Airlines, said:
We couldn’t be more thrilled to be back at OAK, providing new affordable flight options to tourists visiting the Bay Area as well as locals traveling to Las Vegas and beyond. With our growing network, young and fuel-efficient fleet, and premium upgrades – including First Class seats and high-speed connectivity with Starlink on the way – we look forward to welcoming consumers on board and showing them that travel can be both low cost and high value.”
Anthony’s Take: The return restores another low-cost carrier option at Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK). This strengthens competition and expands choices for both leisure and business travelers heading to one of the country’s most popular vacation destinations.
