It seems like just about every US airline has designed a custom livery for the celebrations coming this weekend on July 4th. American, Southwest, and United have already debuted their paint jobs. Now, JetBlue has unveiled a special new look for its “Vets in Blue” aircraft. The airline has added a commemorative “250” design to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States while honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s military veterans.

The updated aircraft was showcased at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), where US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy joined JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty and an all-veteran JetBlue flight crew for the unveiling. To mark the occasion, JetBlue is also releasing a limited edition run of 1,776 collectible trading cards featuring the special aircraft livery (a nod to the nation’s founding year).

The celebration extends beyond the aircraft itself. Throughout July, customers flying on JetBlue will see a commemorative inflight video narrated by Chief Operating Officer and US Navy veteran Warren Christie. It highlights America’s 250-year history and recognizing veterans and JetBlue crewmembers who have served in the military. JetBlue employees will also participate in volunteer events assembling care packages for veterans at local VA hospitals to continue the airline’s longstanding support for military service members and their families.

Anthony’s Take: I always love custom liveries. The “Vets in Blue” aircraft now serves as a flying tribute to both the nation’s historic milestone and the generations of veterans whose service has helped protect it.
