Delta Air Lines has rolled out a new limited-time promotion that gives eligible SkyMiles® members the opportunity to earn up to $80 in Uber credits when booking and flying qualifying Delta Comfort flights this summer.

Delta Uber

The offer is available to SkyMiles® members who enroll in the promotion and then book and fly a qualifying Delta Comfort Classic or Delta Comfort Extra fare by July 19th. There’s a catch: the promotion is only open to the first 300,000 members who register.

Eligible travelers can receive up to $80 in total Uber ride discounts after completing a qualifying flight. The credits are distributed across two Uber rides, with a maximum discount of $40 per ride.

To qualify, members must:

  • Enroll in the promotion
  • Book and fly a qualifying Delta Comfort Classic or Delta Comfort Extra ticket
  • Complete travel by July 19th

If you haven’t received an email about the promotion, you may still be able to enroll through your SkyMiles® account while availability remains.

As with many airline promotions, there’s a substantial number of caveats. Here are the key details travelers should be aware of:

  • Eligible flights must be domestic routes that both originate and terminate within the continental United States
  • Flights involving Alaska, Hawaii, or US territories are excluded
  • Paid upgrades into Delta Comfort are not eligible
  • Delta Basic fares and tickets purchased using certificates do not qualify
  • Delta Comfort Classic tickets booked using SkyMiles® are eligible if all other requirements are met

The Uber portion of the promotion also comes with several limitations:

  • Discounts apply only to rides that both begin and end within the US
  • The maximum value is $40 per ride, even if the ride costs more
  • If a ride costs less than $40, any unused credit is forfeited
  • Credits expire either 60 days after being added to the Uber account or at 11:59 PM ET on September 19th (whichever comes first)

Once an eligible flight is completed, travelers can expect to receive their Uber discount code within seven to 10 days.

Anthony’s Take: For travelers already planning to fly with Delta this summer, the promotion could provide a useful added perk (particularly for airport transportation expenses). That said, the offer’s long list of restrictions and the fact that this is capped at Delta Comfort (and does not include Delta First or Delta One®) makes the appeal more limited for me. I’ll be passing on this one.
