As the Northeast Alliance with American Airlines has wound down (more here), JetBlue Airways is continuing to make adjustments to its schedule and is cutting multiple flights from New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). The airline is also ceasing service to Burlington International Airport (BTV).

The carrier is dropping 14 routes total with all but one in the northeast. All of these routes will phase out between January and March 2024. These include flights between:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Charleston International Airport (CHS)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Miami International Airport (MIA)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Burlington International Airport (BTV)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Cape Cod Gateway Airport (HYA)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Charleston International Airport (CHS)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Denver International Airport (DEN)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Nashville International Airport (BNA)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Portland International Jetport (PWM)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)

Burlington VT

JetBlue has served Burlington International Airport (BTV) for more than 20 years. It has been running flights 2x daily and they account for 10% of the airport’s monthly flights. U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch, as well as US Representative Becca Balint wrote to JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes that the airline’s decision to end service “surprised [them] and many in Vermont.” Delta Air Lines will continue to serve Burlington International Airport (BTV) from both New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA). United Airlines also has flights from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

Anthony’s Take: This was to be expected as the Northeast Alliance with American Airlines continues to unwind. The carrier needs to give up slots and many of these routes were filling in for American’s deficiencies in the New York-area.

My best friend flew Jetblue JFK-BTV in 2005 so they have had that flight for a long time. I am surprised that they would have ever flown LGA-DEN or LGA-BNA.
Very surprised that EWR-BOS is ending. They need that BOS feed.
With so many route cuts I wonder if Jetblue will be around in 3 years.
