Hotel Review: 7Pines Resort Sardinia – Destination by Hyatt

The final stop on our Italian island adventure was the 7Pines Resort Sardinia – Destination by Hyatt. After driving from La Villa del Re (full review here), we were excited for this new resort near Porto Cervo (the hotel opened in August 2022). The hotel delivered all we had hoped for and more.

Anthony’s Take: 7Pines Resort Sardinia – Destination by Hyatt is a jewel in the Hyatt portfolio. It offers several pools, a beach, impeccably manicured grounds, several restaurants, spa, tennis courts, basketball court, fitness center, kids club, and more. Elite recognition is great at this hotel and Hyatt Globalist status got us an upgrade (using a Suite Night Award certificate), a delicious breakfast, and late checkout.

Booking

I booked a 1 King Bed Garden View Room for 40,000 points per night. Then, I applied a Suite Night Award certificate (SNA) to upgrade to a Lagoon View Suite. If I were to pay the cash rate for this suite, it would have been €3,830 plus taxes per night. The standard room (1 King Bed Garden View Room) would have cost €1,521. This was a great redemption since the cash cost was so high. Rooms at the hotel range from 35,000 to 45,000 based on whether you’re booking an off-peak, standard, or peak rate). Suites can be booked between 56,000 and 90,000 points.

Transportation To/From the Hotel

We had our rental car and drove the 282 kilometers in around 3.5 hours from La Villa del Re. When we left, we were flying out of Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) and it took us around 30 minutes to get there.

 

 

Check-In

We pulled up to the gate and were directed to the reception building. I do not like the pomp of luxury resort check-ins. I don’t want a tour, I don’t need help with figuring out the light switches, and I don’t want my bags touched. We kept our bags and were seated in reception for the check-in. The hotel has an app that they want you to download (we did not). They parked the car for us. I later learned that there was a choice of valet or self parking. Both are complimentary, so I held the keys after this initial time. We were driven to our suite in a golf cart and another employee was waiting to give us a tour. We opted out of that, collected the keys, and went into the suite ourselves. Some people like to have their things unpacked, to have someone help them with menial tasks, etc. I am not one of those people and really just want some quiet and privacy. During check-in the Globalist breakfast benefit was explained (full buffet), late checkout was offered (I requested and received 3:00 PM), and the Wi-Fi was explained (no password needed). Once we said goodbye to the trio of employees at our suite, we got to explore it on our own.

 

Lagoon View Suite (708)

There are 76 rooms (including 28 suites) at this hotel.

Key cards are made of wood as to not waste plastic.

There is a small kitchen area immediately when you enter the suite.

A large closet is next to it. It holds umbrellas and hangers.

The kitchen has a refrigerator (with an unsensored mini-bar).

A separate freezer filled with ice.

Glassware, barware, and fresh citrus fruit for drinks are on the counter (as well as several bottles of liquor for sale).

Bottled water, cups, and a Nespresso machine.

Coffee pods and tea bags are found below.

A drawer holds snacks for sale.

A garbage can was under the sink.

 

The hotel provided us with an awesome welcome amenity. There was a bottle of sparkling wine and a large tray of fruit and confections. This was all delicious.

In the corner next to the front door is a small console table.

 

Behind the kitchen area, you’ll find a living room. There is a couch and TV here.

A schedule of daily activities was found here. They all carry an additional cost.

There is a patio off of the living room and bedroom that has two seating areas.

 

A table with chairs for dining is on the right side.

 

An Armchair, table, and an outdoor sofa are on the left side.

The suite also had an outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach or pool.

The Lagoon View Suite provides what its name implies, a view of the Lagoon Pool.

Back inside, the bedroom is next. It has a comfortable, king-sized bed with multiple outlets and two night tables.

I liked that they included USB ports in the room design.

A 7Pines branded beach bag was found on the bed. It held two pool towels. We could get more anytime we wanted at the pool.

There were also two pairs of flip flops in the room. These were also branded 7Pines, but they were way too small for my husband or me to wear. This hotel branded everything from towels to pens to bags to anything else that could have a logo put on it.

A pinecone was found on the one nightstands. If you wanted the linens changed, you just had to put it on your pillow.

Another TV was across from the bed.

A door grants access to the patio. A second sliding door is found in the living room.

There are two more closets in the hallway leading to the bathroom. The first holds hangers.

The second closet houses the safe.

The bathroom is large and nicely decorated. It has a single-sink vanity with a huge mirror. A scale and a blowdryer were found inside.

All toiletries were Molton Brown brand.

There were extra toothbrushes included.

A 7Pines-branded toiletry bag was on the counter next to Molton Brown Eye Gel, Lipsaver, and Hand Cream.

The bidet and toilet were on the wall past the vanity.

Across from the toilet is a large, glass shower. Water pressure and temperature were both excellent.

Breakfast

7Pines Resort Sardinia has three restaurants. One is is in the main building, another is set on its own (Cone Club), and the other (Spazio) is housed near the main pool. Breakfast is served at the one in the main building (Capogiro), which offers great sea views while dining. Globalists receive the full buffet as well as a choice of hot entrees.

 

The menu had multiple egg and sweet dishes to choose from.

The end of the buffet has a wide selection of cereals.

There are tons of fresh pastries and cakes.

Plus, there is fresh honeycomb.

Cheese and Caprese Salad

Fish and meats

In addition to smoked salmon, there was smoked tuna. It was delicious.

More cheese and jam

Coffee, juice, and cappuccino were also included.

The buffet offered more than enough for us, but one day my husband ordered the pancakes.

Amenities & Common Areas

There are two pools at 7Pines Resort Sardinia in addition to impeccably manicured grounds, beach, several restaurants, spa, tennis courts, basketball court, fitness center, a kids club known as Kio House of Kids, and more. The Lagoon Pool is adults only (even though this is not well enforced). The main pool has its own swim-up pool bar.

 

 

The grounds are beautiful throughout the resort with tons of flowers.

 

The spa is located near the main pool. I did not have the opportunity to check it out on this visit.

 

The main pool has a bridge connecting the two sides.

The swim-up bar is found here as well.

 

There is lots of seating around the main pool. I liked that people did not try to block chairs here like they do so many times at other resorts.

An outdoor shower for rinsing off was between the main pool and the spa.

A third, tiny pool is to the side of the main pool.

The Lagoon Pool was never really occupied during our visit.

Our suite was located near the shallow end of the Lagoon Pool.

There is a cute (branded) truck near the pool that holds towels.

 

The fitness center is housed in two glass cubes.

The kids club known as Kio House of Kids is near the parking lot.

There is a tennis court.

Next door, you’ll find a smaller court. I thought it was for pickle ball, but the resort’s site says paddle ball.

A basketball court is located behind these courts.

Almost everything at the 7Pines Resort Sardinia is branded. These Land Rover Defenders were parked near reception. I’m not sure if transfers can be booked or if they’re used for another purpose. They did not move during the three days of our visit.

The Cone Club restaurant is near the main pool. It serves Mediterranean for dinner. We did not try it while at the resort.

When we were being escorted to our room, the staff told us that the chef likes to grow his own herbs. The garden was brimming with herbs and vegetables.

 

The Pure Seven spa is found near the main pool. We did not have the chance to visit on this trip.

 

The 7Pines main building is where you’ll find the concierge, a small shop, Capogiro restaurant, many of the hotel’s rooms, and the entrance to the beach behind the building.

The shop is located on the ground floor near the concierge.

There is a small seating area here as well.

The beach is located behind the main building. It has plenty of open seating. It was windy during our visit and the beach remained empty.

As you walk down the path, you’ll get some great views of the water and the boats passing by throughout the day.

Overall Impression: 7Pines Sardinia Resort is a nice addition to the Hyatt portfolio. The suites, common areas, amenities, and service are all excellent. I like the aesthetic of the 7Pines brand and hope they open additional locations (there is currently only one other in Ibiza).
