A celebratory glass of champagne after takeoff, a beer at the bar, or a cocktail in the lounge are all part of many travelers’ normal flying routines. But, when one turns into many and the crew no longer feels safe having you on the aircraft, there is a problem.

No information was provided in the video as to what airport this was taking place in or where the flight was headed, but a clearly intoxicated woman (slurring her speech and repeating herself) can be heard arguing with a flight attendant on the jet bridge for over three minutes. (Update: Thanks for the comment, Gary. This apparently occurred in September 2022.)

I don’t know of any situation where a passenger has argued their way onto a plane after crew has decided that they’re not traveling on a flight. It usually is just a matter of how quickly and quietly the passenger will go (and with or without police).

Towards the end of the video, the flight attendant tells the woman that she wants the video deleted and that she is “violating FARs.” I’m not sure of what the Federal Aviation Regulations say that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) set around filming, but I know that airlines have their own policies in the contracts of carriage that you agree to when purchasing a ticket.

Anthony’s Take: The flight attendant seems a little smug, but it is within her right to deny boarding if she feels that a passenger is not fit to fly. Hopefully, these travelers took a break, got some coffee, and got on their way later once they sobered up.

The flight attendant knows her job, and once that passenger steps on the plane she’s the crews problem. The passenger made it past the gate agent only to be stopped at the door by a fa who was actively paying attention. That alcohol hit different at 35k in the air.
