Spirit Airlines has getting lots of coverage lately around changes to its route network. Last month, I covered the low-cost carrier’s hopes to secure one of the five slots at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) that are not perimeter bound. I also wrote about how it cut 17 routes from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). These included the last four international routes from the airport. Now, Spirit is bringing back two routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

Flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will resume to both Colombia and Peru. These include:

  • Bucaramanga’s Palonegro Airport (BGA) (3x weekly; starts on December 4th)
  • Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) (daily; starts on December 4th)

@IshrionA points out that Spirit has not yet announced plans to restart service to five other cities it previously served. These include:

  • Aguadilla’s Rafael Hernández International Airport (BQN)
  • Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)
  • Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT)
  • Ponce’s Mercedita International Airport (PSE)
  • Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR)

Anthony’s Take: I really enjoy flying Spirit and am always excited to see additions and resumptions to its route network. Hopefully, the airline will resume some of its other former routes.
