Earlier this week, I wrote about how Norse Atlantic Airways was finally joining TSA PreCheck® (more here). Now, the low-cost carrier is adding service to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH) from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) next summer.

Summer 2024 is going to see the most flights ever to Greece’s capital from the United States. These flights include:

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) (Delta Air Lines will offer daily flights on an Airbus A350)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) (Delta Air Lines will offer daily flights on an Airbus A330)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) (American Airlines will offer daily flights on a Boeing 787)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) (Both United Airlines and Emirates offer daily flights on a Boeing 787-10 and Boeing 777)
  • New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (American Airlines will offer daily flights on a Boeing 777; Delta Air Lines will offer 2x daily flights on Airbus A330 and A330-900neo; Norse Atlantic Airways will offer 5x weekly flights on a Boeing 787-9)
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) (United Airlines will offer daily service on a Boeing 787)

With the addition of Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH), Norse Atlantic Airways will fly to six destinations in Europe from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Other destinations include:

  • Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER)
  • London Gatwick Airport (LGW)
  • Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
  • Oslo Airport (OSL)
  • Rome Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Norse has been cutting lots of routes from its schedule, so it’s good to see it adding a new destination next summer. If demand for travel to Greece remains as strong as it was this past summer then this new route should do well for all of the airlines offering flights.

Anthony’s Take: Greece is one of my favorite countries and I have been many times through the years. All of these new and returning flights will make it easier than ever to visit from the US.
