Delta Air Lines will dramatically increase its winter service this year with more cities connected to Orlando International Airport (MCO) than ever before. When the weather gets cold, Delta will fly the second most routes to the House of Mouse (second to only Southwest).
The Atlanta-based airline normally offers flights to/from these cities:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
- Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)
- Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
- New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
- Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)
- Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
This winter, Delta will add the following cities to the roster:
- John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH)
- Grand Rapids’ Gerald R Ford International Airport (GRR)
- Indianapolis International Airport (IND)
- Kansas City International Airport (MCI)
- Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF)
- Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE)
- Nashville International Airport (BNA)
- Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
Delta is significantly expanding its Orlando presence this winter as demand for Florida leisure travel continues to surge. By adding eight new seasonal routes and increasing service on existing flights, the airline is strengthening Orlando International Airport (MCO) as a key focus city while competing more aggressively for vacation travelers. The expansion also gives Delta more opportunities to connect customers from smaller Midwest and East Coast markets directly to one of the nation’s most popular destinations during the peak winter travel season.
Anthony’s Take: I’m not a huge fan of Orlando and wish Tampa would get some of this love, but Delta is making it easier to get to the Sunshine State this winter.
