A high-speed police pursuit came to a dramatic end early Saturday when a fleeing driver crashed through a gate and onto the airfield at San Antonio International Airport (SAT).
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the chase began around 1:30 AM after a trooper attempted to stop a 2012 Chrysler. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Brandon Christopher Figueroa, allegedly refused to stop and led authorities on a pursuit through several parts of the city. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed through an airport gate and entered the airport’s runway area.
KSAT reports that troopers quickly surrounded the vehicle and took Figueroa into custody at gunpoint. Authorities also recovered a firearm from inside the car. Figueroa was arrested on charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Anthony’s Take: Officials have not reported any injuries or indicated that airport operations were significantly affected by the incident. The investigation remains ongoing. It’s good that this happened late at night when there were no scheduled flights.
