A passenger on a recent American Airlines flight forgot that he was not at home or sitting on a beach. He kicked off his shoes (and socks if he was wearing them) and sprawled across three seats with his foot draped over a tray table.

This is wrong on many levels, not to mention that foremost, people put food on those tables. A Delta Air Lines flight attendant was traveling and snapped a photo. She reported the man to an American Airlines flight attendant (working the flight) who admonished the man. He was successful and the passenger’s feet were not on the table the rest of the flight.

Vintage Passengers

There was a time when men wore suits and women wore dresses, gloves, and hats onboard. We don’t need to go back to that level of formal attire, but feet do need to stay on the floor. They should also be clean and not smell. If not then they should not be exposed on a plane.

I have witnessed people do things on a plane that should never be done in public. Plucking eyebrows, trimming finger and toenails, and brushing teeth should either be done in a lavatory or not at all onboard.

Foot on Wall

Anthony’s Take: The days of decorum and civility are gone. People think nothing of sticking their feet on the walls and tray tables. I took the photo above on a recent flight. People will not change unless they’re shamed and even then we might be too far gone.
