Summer 2024 was already going to see the most flights ever to Greece’s Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH) from the United States. Now, United Airlines is adding another route to take travelers on their Greek holidays this summer.

American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Norse Atlantic Airways, and United were already flying to Greece. With this new flight, United is increasing its capacity to the Greek capital by 25%. The new route to/from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) will run daily between May 23rd and August 12th.

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) (Delta Air Lines will offer daily flights on an Airbus A330)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) (American Airlines will offer daily flights on a Boeing 787)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) (Both United Airlines and Emirates offer daily flights on a Boeing 787-10 and Boeing 777)
  • New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (American Airlines will offer daily flights on a Boeing 777; Delta Air Lines will offer 2x daily flights on Airbus A330 and A330-900neo; Norse Atlantic Airways will offer 5x weekly flights on a Boeing 787-9)
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) (United Airlines will offer daily service on a Boeing 787)

United Airlines is planning for a busy summer travel season out of Chicago. It will serve 15 European cities nonstop, including: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH), Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), Brussels Airport (BRU), Dublin Airport (DUB), Edinburgh Airport (EDI), Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA), London Heathrow Airport (LHR), Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Munich International Airport (MUC), Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Keflavík International Airport (KEF), Rome Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO), Shannon Airport (SNN), and Zurich Airport (ZRH).

Anthony’s Take: Greece is one of my favorite countries and I have been many times through the years. All of these new and returning flights will make it easier than ever to visit from the US.
