An American Airlines flight departing from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) was delayed on June 20th after a passenger reportedly refused to comply with crew instructions regarding the placement of her carry-on bag.

According to witnesses, the woman repeatedly argued with flight attendants after being instructed to store her bag in the overhead bin. The disagreement escalated to the point where the aircraft could not depart and all passengers were ultimately required to deplane while airport police were called to intervene.

Video shared above shows the passenger being escorted off the aircraft by law enforcement officers as fellow passengers applauded and cheered. I love the guy on the left that flips her off.

While the exact flight number has not been confirmed, both American Airlines flights between San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) experienced delays that day. Travelers reported that the disruption resulted in missed connections and significant travel delays for many passengers.

Federal regulations require passengers to comply with crew member instructions, including those related to the safe stowage of carry-on baggage. Airlines may remove passengers who refuse to follow those instructions or whose behavior is deemed disruptive.

Anthony’s Take: The incident serves as another reminder of how quickly disagreements onboard can escalate and impact hundreds of fellow travelers. What began as a dispute over where a bag should be stored ultimately delayed an entire flight and required police intervention before the aircraft could continue its journey. Hopefully, American will ban her from flying again.

Play stupid games…

You’re right about being banned. Unfortunately that’s not being used enough to counter this kind of behavior.

If I had been on that plane and experience financial loss (missed connection/rebooking/hotel/meals) I would sue that passenger in small claims court.
