American Express was the first credit card issuer to open lounges with the Centurion Lounge at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport debuting in 2013. There are currently 13 domestic lounges and 14 international with plans to open several more in the US in the next few years.

Chase Sapphire Lounge BOS Decor 1

Chase and Capital One announced that they would be adding competitors, but to date they each only have one open location with Chase operating The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) (full review here) and Capital One running its lounge at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

Capital One Lounge IAD

Capital One is preparing to open its next two locations in September at Denver International Airport (DEN) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).  The photo above was taken by Pizza in Motion on July 16th and the post describes the progress and lounges overall. The good news is that the lounge is almost ready. The lounge will be on the smaller side at 9,100 square feet and will be accessible by all passengers in the Main Terminal.

Capital One Denver

The Denver lounge will be larger than Dulles at 11,200 square feet and will be located in Concourse A. The rendering above from Capital One doesn’t show much, but View from the Wing states that:

It will feature relaxation rooms with eye covers, blankets and other luxury amenities to help you recharge away from the crowds, shower suites with complimentary towels and hotel-inspired custom toiletries, plus a nursing room, kid-sized tables for families, and private meeting rooms based on the original release from the bank.”

Anthony’s Take: I have never been to the Capital One Lounge in Dallas, but have heard nothing but good things. I have a better chance of checking out either the Denver or Washington DC locations when they open and hope that Capital One expands to Chicago or Tampa some day.
