American Airlines is rolling out a another refresh of its lounge dining experience and introducing upgraded food and beverage offerings across its Flagship® and Admirals Club® lounges. The enhancements are designed to provide travelers with more variety, higher-quality presentations, and a more restaurant-inspired experience before boarding. From expanded à la carte dining to interactive culinary stations and upgraded wine selections, American says the changes are aimed at both business and leisure travelers seeking a more elevated airport experience.

American’s premium Flagship® lounges will see some of the most significant upgrades. Travelers will now enjoy expanded culinary offerings, including a wider selection of small plates and made-to-order dishes. The airline is also introducing interactive dining experiences that include new action stations (such as a cheese-monger cart) designed to bring a more personalized touch to the lounge experience.

Building on successful trials in the Flagship® lounge at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), American has expanded its QR code-based ordering system across all Flagship® locations. Guests can now order select premium dishes directly from their seats through a rotating seasonal menu.

New Flagship® lounge menu highlights include:
- Watermelon cucumber feta salad at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
- Ham and egg chive waffle at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
- Thai basil and chili crispy shrimp at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Citrus-rum shrimp at Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Pineapple carpaccio at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
- Sour cherry cheesecake at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)

American is also continuing to expand its premium wine program throughout its Flagship® lounges.

Admirals Club® members will also see notable improvements. The airline is adding two additional hot food selections to its buffet offerings, making it easier for travelers to build a complete meal before their flight. Menus will be refreshed more frequently and feature a rotating selection of regional dishes. American is also enhancing its charcuterie presentation and introducing upgraded premium wines available for purchase (including Veuve Rosé Champagne and Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon).

New Admirals Club® menu offerings include:
- Lemon herb chicken and mac and cheese bar at Denver International Airport (DEN), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL), and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
- Chipotle lime chicken at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), and Nashville International Airport (BNA)
- Coconut turmeric chickpea and vegetable curry at Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Build-your-own breakfast tostada at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
- Rustic zucchini and flame-roasted corn at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), John Wayne Airport (SNA), and San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
The lounge upgrades are the latest example of American Airlines’ broader effort to strengthen its premium offerings amid increasing competition from Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. By expanding food choices, improving presentation and introducing more interactive dining experiences, American hopes to create a more memorable pre-flight experience for customers across its lounge network.
Anthony’s Take: Whether travelers are looking for a quick snack, a full meal, or a premium dining experience before departure, the airline believes the refreshed menus and upgraded service will help make airport time a more enjoyable part of the journey. I can’t wait to check this out.
