I was scheduled to fly United Airlines from Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and then connect to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). The travel gods had other plans for me and the flight went mechanical. I was seated in 1B and ran off the plane to get quickly rebooked on an American Airlines flight to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) before connecting there. It was leaving within the hour. The flight offered lunch and a single choice of Chicken Enchiladas was given. I went with my one (and only) option and here are my thoughts.

Flight attendants were proactive throughout the flight. A choice of predeparture beverage was offered while at the gate. As soon as we took off, warm mixed nuts and additional beverages were provided. I went with a cran-apple juice.

Lunch was served on a single tray. It included a salad that desperately needed dressing, Chicken Enchiladas that were surprisingly tasty (and with a bit of much-appreciated spice), and a red velvet cake for dessert. I liked these enchiladas more than what United has currently been serving. They were more flavorful and the portion was larger.

Anthony’s Take: I’m not a huge fan of American Airlines, but I will call things like I see them. The service and meal on this flight were both quite good and satisfied me on a less-than-ideal travel day.
