Korean Air is upgrading its premium passenger experience with the completion of extensive lounge renovations at Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN). This is part of a broader service enhancement strategy tied to its evolving brand and upcoming integration with Asiana Airlines.
At the center of the transformation is a large-scale expansion of airport lounges at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Terminal 2. The airline is building new Prestige Class Garden Lounges in both the east and west wings (areas added during the airport’s recent expansion). Existing lounges have been significantly upgraded with the Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing set to double in size and the Miler Club Lounge expanding alongside it.

The renovations have been completed in phases with some newly refreshed spaces already available and others opening this week. Korean Air’s First Class and Prestige Class lounges in the west wing will reopen following a full redesign. Once complete, the airline will operate six lounges at its hub and increase total lounge space by 2.5x while doubling seating capacity.

The new First Class Lounge is being positioned as a luxury destination in its own right (designed to rival high-end hotel lounges). The space will feature private suites for relaxation, upscale dining with traditional Korean cuisine, and premium amenities such as shower facilities and massage chairs. Across all lounges, food and beverage offerings are being elevated with live cooking stations, dedicated bakeries, cocktail bars, and a signature noodle bar serving freshly prepared dishes.
Korean Air is also extending its lounge improvements beyond South Korea. Lounges at major international hubs, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), will undergo complete redesigns to incorporate locally inspired themes that reflect each city.
To complement the physical upgrades, the airline is enhancing its digital experience. A new feature in the Korean Air mobile app will provide real-time information on lounge locations, amenities, reservations, and crowd levels to help travelers better plan their preflight experience.
The changes reflect a broader shift in Korean Air’s strategy as it prepares for increased passenger volumes and a more competitive global market. By enhancing ground experiences, the airline aims to deliver a more modern, flexible, and premium-focused offering for travelers across all cabins.
Anthony’s Take: With significant investments in infrastructure, service, and technology, Korean Air is positioning itself for its next phase of growth while elevating the overall travel experience for its customers worldwide.
