One of my favorite hotels in the Tampa area is the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. I’ve stayed here many times (full review here) and always send family here as well. A fire broke out on the 11th floor on Friday and luckily it was contained.

WFTS Tampa Bay reported that Tampa Fire Rescue got a call of a structure fire with smoke said it became a three-alarm fire due to the large number of guests in the hotel. Firefighters evacuated the hotel due to the fire and smoke. The small fire impacted the 11th floor with smoke also traveling to the 10th floor.

Nine people were sent to local hospitals for treatment of minor medical conditions due to the fire and evacuation. Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Anthony’s Take: I’m relieved to hear that the fire was contained with minimal damage and no serious injuries. Hopefully, the hotel is able to repair the effected rooms quickly and get the hotel back to being fully open.
