I requalified for Delta Platinum Medallion status last week. One of the best parts of Platinum and Diamond Medallion are the Choice Benefits that members can choose when they reach these levels.

Per Delta.com:

2024 Medallion Year: You may select one benefit when you qualify for Platinum Medallion Status; you may select three benefits when you qualify for Diamond Medallion Status. Selection opens immediately after you earn Status, and benefits must be selected by January 31, 2025. “

When you attain Platinum Medallion, you can choose one benefit from the following list:

  • 4 Regional Upgrade Certificates (I chose this one last year)
  • $200 American Express Statement Credit
  • 4,000 Starbucks® Rewards Stars
  • 500 Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs)
  • Give Silver Medallion status to two people
  • 20,000 bonus miles
  • $400 Delta Vacations® Experience (Flight + Hotel)
  • $250 Sustainable Aviation Fuel Contribution
  • $250 Delta Travel Voucher

I know right away that there are several benefits that I will not be choosing. The $200 American Express statement credit is fine, but not the best value. I also won’t be choosing the Starbucks® Rewards Stars. 4,000 stars equals 20 beverages. Other benefits have a higher value. I don’t need the MQDs, so scratch that one. Silver Medallion has little value and I’m not burning my Choice Benefit there. 20,000 bonus miles are also fine, but I have enough miles that I don’t need to pad my balance. I’ll also skip the $400 Delta Vacations® experience and $250 Sustainable Aviation Fuel contribution.

This means that I’ve narrowed it down to either the Regional Upgrades or the $250 Delta travel voucher. The voucher would be used almost instantly. I always book First/Business Class tickets, but could buy Economy and upgrade if space is available at booking. I’m not sure which to choose this year. I’m pushing to Diamond Medallion and will likely choose the $500 Delta Travel Voucher (the amount is higher for Diamonds).

Anthony’s Take: I’m on the fence between the Regional Upgrades and Delta Travel Voucher. Which would you choose and why?
