The Chicago Botanic Garden is holding its annual Night of 1,000 Jack-O-Lanterns with artist-carved pumpkins lighting a path through the gardens. We went last night and were awed by the incredible pumpkins on display there.
Tickets are sold in advance and most days are already sold out. The event runs October 11th-15th and 18th-22nd. The garden was decked out with tons of mini pumpkins, food and drinks for purchase, performers, and live pumpkin carving demonstrations. There are nine distinct groupings of pumpkins. These include Art Nouveau Fantasy, Haunted Houses, Marvel, Filmed in Illinois, Spookiest Towns in the USA, Alice in Wonderland, Aliens, Obituaries, and Dia de los Muertos. Here are some of my favorites from the evening:
Witch
Unicorn
Castle Grayskull
Haunted House
Living House
Deadpool and Wolverine
Uncle Buck
Home Alone
The Breakfast Club
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Salem, MA
Frankenstein, MO
Transylvania, LA
Tweedledee and Tweedledum
Alice’s Tea Party
E.T.
Grogu
Spock
Bob Barker
Tina Turner
Cindy Williams
Jerry Springer
Paul Reubens
Dia de los Muertos Mexican Passion Flower
Dia de los Muertos Mexican Poppy
Dia de los Muertos Morning Glory
Pumpkin carving demonstrations were held in several tents along the route.
Anthony’s Take: If you’re in the area, try to get tickets or plan on visiting next year. This was an impressive display of true artistry and a fun, fall activity.
