Pokémon fans will soon have a new destination to add to their travel bucket lists. On July 7th, Noto Satoyama Airport (NTQ) in Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture will officially reopen as the Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport and become the first airport in the world to carry the Pokémon name.
The special transformation is part of a partnership between Ishikawa Prefecture and the Pokémon With You Foundation, an initiative created to support communities recovering from the devastating 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. The project will run through September 2029.

Visitors arriving at the airport will be greeted by Pokémon-themed decorations throughout the terminal, including a large installation featuring Pikachu, Plusle, and Minun in the arrivals hall. A giant Pikachu riding an airplane balloon will also float above the terminal atrium, while all 111 Flying-type Pokémon discovered as of May 2026 are incorporated into the airport’s décor.
The airport will feature exclusive merchandise, themed food and beverages, interactive displays, and original short films created specifically for the project. Fans can purchase commemorative souvenirs such as T-shirts, luggage tags, and keychains inspired by artwork celebrating Noto’s recovery and future.
One of the most eye-catching attractions will be the outdoor observation deck, where dozens of Pikachu have been arranged to create a landscape inspired by Noto’s famous satoyama countryside.
The Pokémon experience extends beyond the airport itself. Beginning in mid-July, specially wrapped Pokémon buses will connect travelers to destinations across the region, including Wakura Onsen and other attractions tied to the project. More than a themed attraction, the initiative is designed to help boost tourism and support the long-term recovery of the Noto Peninsula while showcasing the region’s culture, creativity, and resilience.
Anthony’s Take: This is pretty cool. For Pokémon enthusiasts, it may soon become one of the most unique airport experiences anywhere in the world.
