While traveling between Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), I had a layover at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) yesterday. There are no nonstop flights and this is the quickest way to fly between the two cities. During the 3.5-hour time I was on the ground, I got to check out the Delta Sky Club® between Gates C9 and B2.
Access
Access is granted to passengers with memberships (purchased annually), one-time pass holders (earned from the co-branded American Express cards), Delta One®, SkyTeam premium cabin passengers, SkyTeam Elite Plus when flying internationally in premium cabins, the Centurion® and The Platinum Card® from American Express holders (10 visits per year), Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card or the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card holders (15 visits per year), WestJet business class passengers, and WestJet Rewards Platinum and Gold Elite. Allowed guests vary by access type. A same-day boarding pass is required to enter the Delta Sky Club®. Those with credit card access can purchase additional entries for $50 each after they have used their annual allotments.
Anthony’s Take: This Sky Club® like the one near Gate A68 feels quite dated. It’s spacious with lots of seating and the food was tasty, but the decor feels like it has not seen a refresh since the 1990s. It was pretty quiet while I visited late this morning into early afternoon. I like that there is a Sky Club® in Concourse C as Concourse A has four locations, but quite a number of departures go through this area of the McNamara Terminal.
There is a desk immediately ahead once you get off of the elevator. There are no kiosks at this location, which is a tell-tale sign that it has not been updated/renovated.
Bar
A small bar was situated across from the buffet. It offers all of the standard spirits, wine, and beer that Delta provides complimentary as well as some premium options for purchase. There are a few tables around the bar, the buffet, and the dessert station.
A separate table nearby held iced tea and lemonade.
Water and ice were near the desserts.
A soda fountain was across the lounge.
A coffee machine was around the corner, but it was out of service.
Drip coffee, hot water, and condiments were still on offer.
Food
Lunch was being served during my visit. The buffet offered a good selection and everything I tasted was fresh. The selection included several hot dishes, soup, meats and cheeses, salads, additional salad ingredients, sandwiches, beet hummus (yuck) and pita chips, snacks, and desserts.
Chili Meatballs (not pictured: Fried Rice)
Green Beans
Vegetarian Orzo Pasta Salad
Sesame Cucumber Salad
Green salad
Fresh veggies
Beet Hummus and Pita
Sandwiches and wraps
Meats and cheeses
Snacks
Double Chocolate Brownies
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Rice Krispies Treats and Oranges
Bananas were found near the soda fountain.
More snacks were also over there.
A popcorn machine was nearby, but not in use while I visited.
Seating & Decor
As mentioned, this Sky Club® is in need of a renovation. The furniture and decor feel dated. It’s oddly Asian, but not quite. There were lots of different couches, chairs, and tables throughout the lounge and while I was there most of them were open.
Tables near the buffet.
More seating
Here are a few of the works of art around the lounge.
More odd art by the fireplace.
Amenities
This Sky Club® offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, magazines (pictured above), a business center, a departures board, and the food and beverages mentioned above.
The business center had a printer and a shredder.

Overall Impression: This lounge served its purpose, but it needs some love in the form of a renovation to make it more modern like many of Delta’s other Sky Clubs®.
