As I wrote about recently, United Air Lines and Emirates announced a partnership in September where the two airlines would offer codeshare flights and a more seamless travel experience for passengers. Now, today, United has announced that it will begin to serve Moet & Chandon in Economy, Veuve Clicquot in Premium Economy, and Dom Perignon in Polaris onboard flights to and from Europe, the Middle East/Africa, Asia, and South America on planes equipped with three-cabin service.

United Plane

Emirates released the news in December that it had become the exclusive carrier to serve Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Dom Perignon on its planes. Now, it will share the wealth with United and begin to provide the carrier with these wines. A test flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dubai International Airport (DXB) provided positive initial feedback. Among the comments:

Dom pairs nicely with this bowl of cauliflower, nuts, grapes, and raisins that United served me as an appetizer.”

And:

I hope they save some to go with my pre-arrival Hamburger Wellington. I was shocked when I stepped onboard and was offered a glass of Dom Perignon. I’m used to be able to pick up the wines I drink in Polaris at my local gas station and now I’ll have to go to a proper wine purveyor if I want to buy this one.”

I’m looking forward to my next Polaris flight to sip champagne at 35,000 feet. And, if you believe all of this, I have a ticket to sell you on the inaugural flight to the moon. Happy April Fool’s Day!
