Happy Star Wars Day! I am a diehard fan of the galaxy far, far away and an AV geek. When May 4th rolls around, I always think about the airlines that have created Star Wars themed liveries. I got to fly on United’s decked out aircraft several years ago and it was a total fanboy moment for me. Unfortunately, all of these liveries have been repainted with the exception of Alaska Airlines. But, I still look back on them fondly and wish I would have flown on more of these fun aircraft.

ANA
ANA was the first airline to introduce branded planes in 2015. They were retired over the past year (more here and here).

Alaska Airlines
Alaska debuted its Star Wars themed Boeing 737-800 to celebrate Disneyland on May 4th of 2022. The livery focuses on Galaxy’s Edge (the Disney-branded Star Wars theme park). This is the last remaining plane flying with a Star Wars livery.

LATAM
LATAM also partnered with Disney/Star Wars on a Galaxy’s Edge plane. The Boeing 777-300 launched in 2019, but has since been repainted. I loved the Stormtrooper on the tail.

United Airlines
United partnered with Star Wars for the release of The Rise of Skywalker. The plane flew for several years and I was lucky enough to fly on it. When I saw the aircraft parked before boarding, I started gushing to the gate agent about how big a fan I was and how excited I was to fly on it. I played the Global Services card (which I was at the time) and told him it would mean a lot to me to be able to board the Boeing 737-800 first to take photos.

He allowed me to go down with the crew.

Anthony’s Take: I get excited about everything Star Wars and love flying. These partnerships add fun to the everyday. I hope that some new Star Wars aircraft hit the skies in the coming years. May the Fourth be with you all.
