On an earnings call this week, Anthony Capuano (Marriott’s CEO) said that he expects all MGM Resorts properties to be bookable through Marriott.com by mid-March. This will include all of the Las Vegas properties as well as Beau Rivage, Borgata, MGM Grand Detroit, MGM National Harbor, and MGM Springfield.

New York New York MGM

Earlier this month, I wrote about how New York-New York Hotel & Casino, MGM Collection started showing up in the search results. Most paid rates were between $89 and $499 per night (including a $42 Resort Fee). Marriott Bonvoy® redemptions vary wildly with a range of 9,000 to 96,000 points per night being displayed.

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas

While New York-New York Hotel & Casino, MGM Collection was the first MGM Resorts® property added under the new partnership, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Autograph Collection is still bookable as it has been for the past few years.

The overall partnership between MGM Resorts® and Marriott has been delayed several times since it was first announced in July (more here). Members of both programs will see reciprocal benefits when staying at properties within the other’s portfolio. There will not be status matches granted (as we saw with Hyatt). Here are the benefits for Marriott Bonvoy® members by tier:

Silver Elite

  • 10% Marriott Bonvoy® bonus points on qualifying stays

Gold Elite

  • 25% Marriott Bonvoy® bonus points on qualifying stays
  • Welcome gift of 500 Marriott Bonvoy® points per stay

Platinum Elite

  • 50% Marriott Bonvoy® bonus points on qualifying stays
  • Enhanced room upgrades, based upon availability
  • Priority check-in
  • Complimentary 2:00 PM late checkout (based upon availability)
  • Welcome gift of 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points per stay or $15 food & beverage credit per night of stay

Titanium Elite

  • 75% Marriott Bonvoy® bonus points on qualifying stays
  • Enhanced room upgrades (based upon availability)
  • Priority check-in
  • Complimentary 2:00 PM late checkout (based upon availability)
  • Welcome gift of 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points per stay or $15 food & beverage credit per night of stay

Ambassador Elite

  • 75% Marriott Bonvoy® bonus points on qualifying charges
  • Waived resort fees
  • One suite upgrade at a Las Vegas hotel per year (up to a three-night stay)
  • Enhanced room upgrades (based upon availability)
  • Complimentary 1:00 PM early check-in and 4:00 PM late checkout (based upon availability)
  • Welcome gift of 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points per stay or $15 food & beverage credit per night of stay
  • Complimentary self-parking
  • Priority access on dining and check-in
  • 15% retail discounts

All members will be able to transfer points between Marriott Bonvoy® and MGM Rewards. Benefits for Marriott Bonvoy® members will only be available for stays booked directly with Marriott. Four of these MGM Resorts’ properties will be integrated into the Luxury Collection (Bellagio Resort & Casino), Autograph Collection (ARIA Resort & Casino and The Cosmopolitan), and Tribute Portfolio (ARIA Resort & Casino).

Bellagio

MGM Rewards Members Will Receive Marriott Bonvoy® Status

While Marriott Bonvoy® members will not receive matched status in the MGM Rewards program (like what used to be granted to World of Hyatt members), those who hold status with MGM Rewards will be granted Marriott Bonvoy® status. This match includes:

  • MGM Rewards Gold members will be matched to Silver Elite
  • MGM Rewards Platinum members will be matched to Gold Elite
  • MGM Rewards Noir members be matched to Ambassador Elite

Ambassador Elite is very generous, but Noir is MGM Rewards’ highest tier that requires a ton of spend in casinos and MGM properties. I held this status for years thanks to an insanely generous match with Hyatt and loved that I could get restaurant reservations and cut the taxi line. Matches are valid through December 2024. We’ll see if this extended.

Anthony’s Take: I’m glad to see that this is progressing. I look forward to being able to book a stay at the Bellagio and earn points and stay credits. Let’s see if the timeline holds or slips again.
