Hilton has officially opened Conrad Athens The Ilisian. This marks the debut of the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand in Greece and the transformation of one of the city’s most iconic properties.

Previously known as the Hilton Athens, the landmark hotel has been reimagined into a contemporary urban resort at the center of a new mixed-use destination called The Ilisian. The redevelopment blends modern luxury with the building’s historic and cultural significance in Athens. The hotel features 278 guest rooms and suites (many with private balconies and sweeping views of the city). It also offers one of the largest suite collections in Athens with multiple Presidential Suites and a forthcoming penthouse with a private pool overlooking the Acropolis and the Aegean Sea.

A defining element of the property is its architectural heritage, which is highlighted by the preserved marble façade created by renowned Greek artist Yannis Moralis. The exterior is further enhanced by a dynamic lighting installation designed to bring the structure to life at night.

Inside, the design combines mid-century elements with contemporary touches and features curated artwork and bespoke furnishings. The hotel aims to function as both a luxury stay and a cultural space reflecting Athens’ artistic identity.

Dining is a central focus here with nine distinct culinary concepts across the property. Highlights include a modern brasserie blending French and Greek cuisine, along with a variety of bars and lounges. The iconic Galaxy Bar is set to return in a new form later this year and reclaim its status as one of Athens’ most recognizable rooftop venues.

The wellness offering is equally expansive (anchored by Athens’ largest outdoor pool). Additional facilities include a rooftop fitness area, indoor spa amenities, and specialized wellness programs inspired by ancient Greek traditions. Guests can also take part in curated local experiences designed to connect them with Athens through cultural, culinary, and architectural perspectives.

Anthony’s Take: The opening of Conrad Athens The Ilisian represents a major milestone for Hilton’s luxury portfolio and reinforces its expansion in Greece and positioning the property as a flagship destination in one of Europe’s most historic cities.
