Avelo Airlines is a low-cost carrier that launched in 2021 and has been quickly growing. The airline operates a fleet of modern Boeing 737 aircraft and serves destinations across the United States. Avelo competes with Spirit Airways, Breeze Airways, Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines.

The airline announced today its first Caribbean destination: San Juan, Puerto Rico. Starting on November 15th, Avelo will fly between Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) and San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport (SJU) on Wednesdays and Saturdays using a Boeing Next-Generation (NG) 737 aircraft. This is Avelo’s 18th destination from Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN).

Avelo announced the news at a ceremony at Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) this morning with Puerto Rican food,  entertainment by Movimiento Cultural Bomba Band, Puerto Rican flags, and red, white, and blue balloons. San Juan is is the 47th destination across 25 states and one US territory.

Anthony’s Take: Avelo continues to expand its network and this is its first destination outside of the continental United States. This is well timed to get passengers into some warmer weather this winter.
