Turkish Airlines has opened the largest lounge that it operates outside of Istanbul at Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT). The new lounge just completed phase one of its construction and the space can accommodate 105 guests. When complete, it will be almost double the size.
The new lounge is located in Terminal 1 near Gate 47 and currently measures around 8,611 square feet. Once complete, the size of the lounge will grow to 16,1445 square feet. The lounge will be open daily from 7:30 AM to 9:45 PM and will invite Miles&Smiles Elite Plus, Elite, Elite Corporate cardholders, Star Alliance Gold members, and those flying Business or First Class on Turkish Airlines or another Star Alliance carrier.
Ümit Develi, the Vice President of Sales in the Far East and Oceania for Turkish Airlines, said:
Turkish Airlines’ lounge at Narita International Airport reflects our dedication to enhancing the travel experience and further strengthening our presence in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Amenities in the new lounge include daybeds, relaxation areas, a VIP room, showers, restrooms, Wi-Fi, as well as food and beverages. The buffet will feature a mix of Turkish, Japanese, and Far Eastern cuisines. Turkish describes it as follows:
Guests can enjoy a buffet-style selection of Turkish, Japanese, and Far Eastern cuisines, with highlights including a Turkish pide oven (the only one at a lounge outside of Istanbul) offering freshly baked pide [a traditional Turkish dish] during lunch and dinner.”
This latest lounge is one of seven that it now operates around the world. Other locations include:
- Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)
- Istanbul Airport (IST)
- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO)
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
Anthony’s Take: The lounge at Istanbul Airport (IST) has always been a great space and it’s nice to see Turkish Airlines expanding and opening more lounges around the globe. Tokyo has no shortage of great lounges and this will be yet another great choice.
