Marriott and Air Canada announced this week that the two companies are enhancing their partnership to offer elite members with both programs reciprocal status matches. This is a nice addition for members loyal to both the hotel giant and Canadian airline.

Status Matches

Air Canada Aeroplan members who achieve 50K, 75K, and Super Elite status will receive complimentary Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite Status. Gold Elite status offers late check-out (subject to availability), enhanced room upgrades (subject to availability), and 25% bonus on earning Marriott Bonvoy® points.

Marriott Bonvoy® Titanium and Ambassador Elite members will receive Aeroplan 25K status. This status offers priority airport services, two complimentary checked bags, eUpgrade credits, complimentary preferred seats, and more.

Point Transfers

All Aeroplan Elite Status members can transfer Aeroplan points to Marriott Bonvoy® points at a 1:1 ratio. This adds flexibility between the two programs when looking to book hotel rooms or flights. A minimum of 500 points can be transferred at a time. A maximum of 100,000 points per day and 250,000 points per week may be transferred.

Anthony’s Take: Entry-level status with Aeroplan and mid-tier status with Marriott won’t get you a ton, but there are some benefits and cost savings in holding these statuses.
