A few days ago, I wrote about a United Airlines flight that was diverted to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) when a woman onboard apparently freaked out over not being able to drink her own wine that she brought with her. She argues with passengers and a flight attendant before the plane is forced to land and she is led off in handcuffs (see the videos and read more here).

United flight UA1813 departed from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on time, but the plane diverted “due to a disruptive passenger who continually refused to follow the flight attendant’s instructions to return to her seat.”

So annoyed that we had to land so she could be arrested but also free in flight entertainment lmao #karen #airline

Now, FOX Business is reporting that the woman has been banned from future United flights. The statement provided to FOX Business says she’s banned while they review the matter. Hopefully, she is not allowed to fly with United again. A universal do-not-fly list needs to be created and shared among carriers to keep misbehaving passengers from future air travel. The threat of this becoming a reality would have to have an impact on some travelers.

Anthony’s Take: Hopefully, United makes this ban permanent. It’s been a rough travel summer and the extreme heat seems to be getting to everyone, but that’s no excuse to be rude to everyone around you and especially to make a plane divert and upset every other passenger’s plans.

Please do not use the derogatory word “Karen”. It is similar to the N-word except doesn’t denote race. It smears people named Karen, such as Karen Daley (President of the American Nursing Association), Karen Fogg (British diplomat to the European Commission), Karen Tanaka (Japanese composer), etc.

It’s nothing like the N-word Ken.

Correct. The N word is for Blacks. Karen is for women.

That’s not a good comparison. But, the word is mysogynist
