Rosé is one of my favorite wines (after champagne), so I’m happy to see United adding Whispering Angel to its Polaris cabins. For once, I’m not complaining about United’s catering.

United serves more than 450,000 glasses of wine annually in Polaris. It’s nice to see that they’re adding a quality, known brand to the lineup. Château d’Esclans bottles and sells Whispering Angel. The company claims its sales increased 30% between 2021 and 2022 (I know I’ve seen it on more menus recently). While we’re not talking Dom or Krug, but this is at least a popular, drinkable wine that generally retails for $15-$25 per bottle. I’d argue that’s more than United generally spends (even though I know they’re not paying retail).

Anthony’s Take: I’m happy to see this new offering and look forward to tasting it onboard. Hopefully, this is the beginning of new investments in its soft product for Polaris.
