Turkish Airlines flight TK619 between Istanbul Airport (IST) and Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) was in flight on July 25th when a body was discovered in the lavatory. This shocking find caused the plane to divert to Houari Boumediene International Airport (ALG) in Algeria.

Jetline Marvel reported that a male passenger locked himself in the lavatory shortly after takeoff and remained in there for a considerable amount of time. Flight attendants opened the door and found the passenger unresponsive. The man was moved from the lavatory, an onboard doctor administered first aid, but he was unable to revive the passenger. While the means of taking his life has not been released, it was clear that he had committed suicide.

Algerian authorities removed the body from the plane, completed the necessary procedures, and released the flight to continue on to Marrakesh.

Suicide

No details have been revealed around what caused this passenger to take his own life. Suicide is always tragic and you never know what drives someone to that point.

Anthony’s Take: While details are scant, it’s incredibly sad and I’m sure shocking for the flight crew. I hope the friends and family of this man find peace and send my condolences for their loss.
