Sotheby’s is the premiere auction house for art, jewelry, wine, watches, and other luxury goods. Now, travel packages can be added to the listings through a limited partnership with Marriott International’s Luxury Group.

The joint venture will be called “Iconic Pieces. Extraordinary Experiences” and there are two exclusive itineraries for whiskey and fashion lovers.

Berners Tavern

The first will take the highest bidder and a guest through the Alexander McQueen Discovery (presented by EDITION). This includes:

  • A two-night stay in a suite at The London EDITION
  • A five-course tasting menu for two on the exclusive balcony of Berners Tavern, accompanied by a wine pairing that celebrates the most iconic years of Alexander McQueen
  • A private tour of the Victoria & Albert Museum
  • A personalized photography session by renowned visual artist Ann Ray, McQueen’s longtime collaborator

This is a sealed auction. The estimated sales price is between $15,000 to $18,000.

The Joseph

The second auction is titled “Whiskey Reverie: Presented by The Ritz-Carlton.” This one is for whiskey lovers and includes:

  • A two-night stay in a One-Bedroom Madison Suite at The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad
  • A curated dining experience by the experts of the José Andrés Group in the private dining room at The Bazaar by José Andrés. This includes a whiskey tasting paired with each course
  • Whiskey enthusiast Fawn Weaver, the founder of Uncle Nearest and The New York Times bestselling author of Love & Whiskey, joins the winner for dinner
  • A two-night stay in The Joseph’s Penthouse Suite (the hotel is part of The Luxury Collection)
  • Luxury roundtrip transportation to Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville
  • A tour and tasting excursion hosted by Master Blender Victoria Eady Butler, before being shuttled back to Nashville to enjoy a night on the town
  • A signed copy of Love & Whiskey

This is also a sealed auction. The estimated sales price is between $15,000 to $30,000.

George Hammer, Marriott International’s Global Head of Luxury Marketing, said:

There is an incredible synergy between the Luxury Group and Sotheby’s as both are underpinned by a similar passion for pioneering transformative offerings that tap into the diverse cultural passions of our clientele. We have always believed hospitality to be an art in and of itself, challenging us to reimagine the ways we engage with our guests.”

Anthony’s Take: There is a very select audience for these auctions. The packages are ultra luxe and quite exclusive.
