I have stayed at the W Hoboken dozens of times through the years. My last review is from December 2022. Since then, the hotel has renovated the lobby and the guest rooms. This was much needed and the results look great. The W Hoboken feels a bit more grown up and I love the design of the accommodations. Hoboken was my home for many years and it will always be special to me. Staying here is a bit like coming home and it’s even more welcoming with the refresh. The amenities have not changed much since my last review and this one will focus solely on the suite upgrade I received.
Anthony’s Take: As mentioned, I love this hotel. It’s our home base almost every time we visit family in NJ. The suites were renovated and renamed, but they are still spacious and luxe. We’ll definitely be back.

Booking
I booked a Deluxe, Guest room, 1 King, River view on a “Member Rate” directly from Marriott.com for $1,395 for two nights. I was upgraded to an Urban, 1 Bedroom Junior Suite, 1 King, River view, Corner room, Balcony (using Suite Night Awards – SNAs). This used to be known as a Fantastic Suite. The suite is one of my favorites as it has a balcony and views from both the bedroom and living room. My welcome amenity was 1,000 points. I could have chosen breakfast or a F&B credit, but I knew I’d be with family or at Starbucks like I am every other day. The hotel can also be booked with Marriott Bonvoy® points (90,400 to 156,000 points per night) with rates varying since Marriott eliminated its award categories. These rates have skyrocketed over the past few years.

Transportation to/from the Hotel
We rented a car and drove from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). It took us around 42 minutes for the 13.3-mile drive. Going back we drove from my mother-in-law’s house. It took around the same time. The hotel has valet parking. It was much better this time than in the past.
Location
As mentioned the hotel is conveniently located in Hoboken. It’s a great little city across a river from NYC. You’ll have easy access to everything when staying here.

The lobby has also been given a facelift. The new design is elegant and modern. There is limited seating near reception.

Check-in
We arrived at the hotel around 5:30 PM and the suite was ready. I had done a mobile check-in, but needed keys printed. Elite benefits were quickly explained and I was asked if I needed a late checkout (I did not). I selected 1,000 points when I did the mobile check in. Keys were made and we were in the suite within a few minutes.

The bar area on the way to the elevators was also renovated. The elevators are near the bar and restaurant.

Urban, 1 Bedroom Junior Suite, 1 King, River view, Corner room, Balcony (910)
There are 225 rooms, 40 residences, and 23 suites at the hotel. We were on the 9th floor this time (the last review had us one floor directly below).

The suite opens into a small foyer with the half bath to the side, the living room straight ahead, and the bedroom immediately to the left (with an en suite bath).

It held a small vanity with sink and toilet.

The toilet was spaced well from the vanity.

A bar of skin regimen brand soap was near the sink.

The living room had updated furniture and a lot more of it. It offered a couch and table near the balcony.

A TV was mounted across from it.

The balcony had a table and chairs. The views are always amazing.

A table and chairs along with a smaller sofa filled the rest of the space.

A minibar was to the side. It offered snacks and drinks for sale along with a Nespresso machine.

The Nespresso machine and cups were on the counter.

A drawer below held coffee pods and condiments.

The lower drawer offered snacks for sale.

The refrigerator had beverages for sale along with space for guest use.

A full-length mirror was next to the half bath.

The bedroom and full bathroom were to the left.

The bathroom held a glassed-in shower, vanity with a single sink, and toilet. There was a good amount of counter space.

Toiletries and another bar of soap were on the counter.

More toiletries were in a drawer.

The toilet was well spaced within the room.

The shower was spacious. Water pressure and temperature were both good.

Bottles of MOMO brand toiletries were found in the shower.

The bedroom was next. It held a king-sized bed, nightstands, a chaise lounge, and a TV.

The chaise and a small table were near the window.

More gorgeous views.

The wall across from the bed was filled by wardrobes and a desk.

One held space for luggage.

The other included robes, slippers, a steamer, and a safe.
Overall Impression:
I lived in Hoboken for many years (and still own a condo there). When returning to NJ to visit family, we often stay at the W Hoboken. It’s the best location for Northern NJ and NYC visits. The renovations are gorgeous and I can’t wait to return.
