As I wrote about back in September, the HBO series The White Lotus is heading to France for its fourth season. The series partnered with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts for each of the first three seasons, but the upcoming one is taking a turn from one of its properties. It has now been revealed that the show will take place at three properties and they’re all not affiliated.

The White Lotus effect is huge. Good luck booking one of the properties featured for a reasonable rate. The show has made the nightly costs astronomical (looking at you, San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel) and driven crazy numbers of people to these hotels (not that any of these properties were inexpensive in the first place).

Hotel Martinez

For the next season, fans will see these hotels:

  • Airelles Château de la Messardière (Saint-Tropez): This will be billed as the “White Lotus du Cap.” The 19th-century palace hotel sits on 32 acres of gardens and trees. It offers 86 rooms, three pools, nine restaurants, and a beach club accessible that offers access via Rolls-Royce.
  • Hôtel Martinez (Cannes): This will be called the “White Lotus Cannes.” The 1929 Art Deco hotel on the Boulevard de la Croisette is a popular spot during the Cannes Film Festival. It offers the Michelin-starred La Palme d’Or restaurant and interestingly is part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection.
  • Mandarin Oriental Lutetia (Paris): The show couldn’t be in France without some time in Paris. The hotel selected there is the Mandarin Oriental Lutetia. The property was originally opened in 1910 and offers 184 guestrooms (including 49 suites). It’s name on The White Lotus has not yet been revealed.

Deadline Hollywood first reported that the show’s creator was bringing the dark comedy to France with possible locations including the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, Four Seasons Hotel George V, and Four Seasons Hotel Megève. The front runner is the Côte d’Azur, France property long known for attracting celebrities to the luxe accommodations in the French Riviera. This would align with the first three seasons, which were all filmed in beach locations. These were all incorrect.

The White Lotus season one took place at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, season two took fans to San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel (watching it made me miss Sicily), and season three was set at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. Season two was my favorite (mostly because of the location in Taormina, but also because Jennifer Coolidge is just incredible).

Anthony’s Take: I can’t wait for season four. While season two was my favorite, Parker Posey saying “Buddhism” does take up some real estate in my brain. I love that one of the properties in the upcoming show takes place somewhere that you can redeem points as I’m sure the rates are going to skyrocket after the show airs.
