I love hotels and rarely book with Airbnb or VRBO. A big part of that is the fact that I want to earn miles or points with my stay. Delta Air Lines and Airbnb just significantly expanded their long-running partnership and introduced new ways to earn miles while simplifying the booking process as of today, May 5th.

Previously, travelers could earn just 1 SkyMile per $1 spent on Airbnb stays and only when booking through a dedicated portal. That has now changed.

Under the new offering, the following is earned:
- 1 SkyMile per $1 spent on Airbnb Homes
- 3 SkyMiles per $1 spent on qualifying Airbnb Experiences and Airbnb Services
The higher earning rate applies to experiences and services booked within an active (10 day) earning window, while standard exclusions still apply, such as taxes, fees, and discounts.

One of the biggest changes is how bookings are tracked. Instead of requiring users to book through a special Delta link each time, travelers now simply connect their Delta SkyMiles account with Airbnb. Once linked, a 10-day earning window is activated. During that time, any eligible Airbnb bookings automatically earn miles. There is no need to re-enter through a separate portal. After the window expires, users can reconnect their accounts to start a new 10-day period. There is no limit to how often this can be done.
The updated system also adds more visibility. Travelers will now see an estimate of how many miles they’ll earn directly within Airbnb listings before booking to make it easier to evaluate the value of each stay or experience.
Anthony’s Take: Delta and Airbnb’s revamped partnership makes earning miles easier. With higher earning rates on experiences and a streamlined booking process, travelers now have more flexibility and more incentive to earn miles with Airbnb.
