We went to Sicily last summer and had an amazing week exploring the island. We traveled about 300 miles around the island with a start in Catania (CTA) and flew home from Palermo (PMO). ITA Airways, Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, British Airways, and others all fly to Sicily. I fell in love with the food, natural beauty, and people here. It’s also incredibly inexpensive. I’m excited to return this summer.

Taormina Garden

We recently started watching The White Lotus and are on the fourth episode of season two. Season two takes place in Taormina and we’re enjoying seeing the cast exploring places we have been. It’s a gorgeous little town (that I’m sure is now going to be even more crowded based on the popularity of the show).

From Wikipedia:

Taormina is a hilltop town on the east coast of Sicily. It sits near Mount Etna, an active volcano with trails leading to the summit. The town is known for the Teatro Antico di Taormina, an ancient Greco-Roman theater still used today. Near the theater, cliffs drop to the sea forming coves with sandy beaches. A narrow stretch of sand connects to Isola Bella, a tiny island and nature reserve.”

We did not stay at the Four Seasons when we were in Sicily, but did enjoy our stay at the RG Naxos, which is about a 20-minute drive. It’s part of Marriott and is labeled a Delta Hotel in some places. We did not see any branding at the hotel while we were there, but the staff said it will fly under that flag soon.

RG Naxos Bedroom

It’s an old world hotel and we loved the suite we had when we stayed there.

Sicily

We traveled to many of the locations referenced in the show including Noto, Palermo, Siracusa, and more.

Antipasti

I’m still craving this amazing antipasti we shared at Il Salumaio Di Santa Marina in Palermo.

Anthony’s Take: I can’t wait to finish watching The White Lotus and am excited to get back to Sicily this summer. I’ll be reporting back on what we see, eat, and the hotels, flights, and lounges along the way.
