JetBlue Reduces Transatlantic Flights This Winter

Earlier today, I wrote about JetBlue adding new destinations to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), several routes with Mint being added, as well as a few Caribbean destinations coming out of New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). With these positive changes, there is also some bad news. JetBlue will be reducing its transatlantic flying this winter.

The past few years have seen JetBlue commence and beef up its offerings to Europe. Flights out of Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) were to compete with American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and their respective alliance partners like Aer Lingus, Air France, British Airways, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, but this has not materialized in the way that the carrier had hoped.

@JonNYC shared on X that this winter, we’ll see the following cuts to the schedule:

  • London Gatwick (LGW) flights from both Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will become seasonal and paused for the winter.
  • Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) will see one less daily flight from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as there will be a single daily flight versus the current two this winter.
  • Dublin Airport (DUB) and Edinburgh Airport (EDI) are slated to return in summer 2025 as seasonal routes (as they are now).

With the changes, JetBlue will offer the following transatlantic schedule this winter:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) (1x daily)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) (1x daily)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) (1x daily)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to/from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) (1x daily)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to/from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) (2x daily)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to/from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) (1x daily)

With these reductions, JetBlue is able to use its aircraft equipped with Mint on other routes to the Caribbean and across the United States. It will be interesting to see what the transatlantic schedule looks like once finalized for 2025. JetBlue had been rapidly adding destinations, but I expect that to cool completely as things currently stand. It’s not surprising that JetBlue is not faring well against the Big Three since they offer both frequency and tons of connections through partners in Europe.

Anthony’s Take: I’ve never flown Mint and have some certificates as part of a status match to Mosaic last year. I’ll try to use these to check out the service and one of JetBlue’s European flights in the future.
